"We do not so much quit playing because we grow old,
as grow old because we quit playing."
- George L. Knapp
You've probably heard the quote above. We invite you to read it again and really take it in:
"We do not so much quit playing because we grow old, as grow old because we quit playing."
- George L. Knapp
We really love that saying. What about you?
In our culture, regular physical play is something we are losing, and some of us have already lost - yet, it is always retrievable. There is something primal that feels like coming home when we experience physical play, especially between parents and children. The element of Play that my son, Tim, and I facilitate in our events, actually promotes connection between Dads and Sons.
Play creates a DOSE of joy:
- Dopamine
- Oxytocin
- Seratonin
- Endorphins
When we experience physical play and physical touch, we release all of those hormones, which are your resourceful body's recipe for happiness.
The same is true for couples who are playful. Physical play and touch create intimacy through shared experience of joyful moments. In our Couples event, Zina & I facilitate a sacred space that incorporates playful dance, intuitive movement, and therapeutic touch to guide you and your partner into deeper relationship with each other.
Looking at your current and past romantic, platonic, and family relationships, consider these three questions (we encourage you to reflect/journal about them if you are inspired):
- What activities do/did you both enjoy that feel playful and fun?
- What memorable moment do you recall where play significantly strengthened your bond?
- Are there any new activities or hobbies you're interested in trying, to enhance your sense of play?
Both Play Love Connect and the Dads & Sons Primal Elements Day Retreat are focused, purpose-full, and play-full events. If you feel inspired to play, click the link(s) in the text above or scroll down for more information.
Blessings,
